Art of CCNH Residents on Display in the AVH Cafeteria - Artists Reception on August 30

Ten artist residents of the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin are exhibiting their work at the AVH Auxiliary Visiting Artists Program in the Androscoggin Valley Hospital Cafeteria.  Their combined presentation of 25 paintings features an eclectic variety of interests and techniques, all of them worthy of the observer’s study and admiration.  They will be on display through Sunday, September 6.

The artists, mostly new to painting and ranging in age from 67 to 98, are Diane Smart, Theresa Peel, Theresa Martineau, Jeannine Pelchat, Irene Aubut, Claire Patrick, Jeannette Fortier, Edna Stranger, Rita Thibeault, and Janet Daley.  All artists will be in the AVH Cafeteria for an Artist’s Reception on Thursday, August 30, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  All are welcome to come meet these talented Coos County Nursing Home residents, view their art show, and enjoy lunch in the Cafeteria at the same time.

Diane Booth, Activity Director at the Nursing Home, organized this exhibit with the artists.  She points out that “they pick their own subjects to paint and meet weekly on Mondays to enjoy an afternoon of creativity and socialization.  A combination of soft music, a paint brush in hand, and creativity add to the overall health of our residents.”  The classes are enjoyed, and the paintings decorate the hallways and become keepsakes for the families.

Every six weeks, the AVH Auxiliary Rotating Art Program features an artist and his/her work for display in the Hospital Cafeteria.  If you are, or know, an artist or craftsperson who would like to exhibit in the Program, please call Linda Morris, Volunteer Coordinator and AVH Auxiliary Liaison, at 326-5676.  Currently, the Hospital is booking for 2019.  AVH is on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest.  AVH is a proud member of North Country Healthcare.
