AVH Awards $3,000 Scholarships to Two Area High School Students
Androscoggin Valley Hospital Foundation recently awarded Mariam Gaynor Scholarships to two high school students pursuing their education in the healthcare field.
Rylie A. Binette, right,181 Overlook Road, Milan, NH 03588, who successfully completed her first semester as an Occupational Therapy candidate at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine.
Emma C. Schoenbeck, left, 25 Mill Street, Gorham, NH 03581, who successfully completed her first semester as a Nursing candidate at Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire.
These local graduates were each awarded a $3,000 scholarship to assist them in the pursuit of their educational goals in the healthcare field.
Androscoggin Valley Hospital established the Mariam Gaynor Scholarship Program to sponsor students in their pursuit of formal education and training in healthcare professions. Education was an important part of Miss Gaynor’s life. A former resident of Berlin, Mariam Gaynor attended Mount Saint Mary Seminary in Hooksett and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University. During her lifetime, she continued to pursue advanced studies at Harvard University, San Jose Sate University, and Stanford University.
Michael D. Peterson, FACHE, President, stated, "The scholarships awarded in Gaynor’s memory reflect the Hospital’s commitment to assist local area students in fulfilling educational and career opportunities in various healthcare fields. AVH is proud to be a part of developing local students to become healthcare providers through the Gaynor legacy."
